Lisa very kindy let me look over her shoulder at something that she found on the internet.
I have no idea where this idea originally came from - sorry that person!- but it's a good idea and I had fun doing it!
Here are some instructions should you wish to play along! I made my folder using the pictures. I will attempt to create some instructions from what I did.
Firstly, find yourself two beer mats of the same size.
You now need to cut a strip of both card (nice card because this will be the outside of your project)and patterned paper.
The depth of this needs to be the same size as the single beer mats. (I.E. if your beer mats are 4" x 4" the depth of your paper will be 4".) The length needs to be that of the two beers mats put alongside one another plus about an extra two inches.(I.E. 10" in length.)
Get a piece of ribbon, about 6 or 7" longer than the strip of card. Lay down your card, good side down then lay your ribbon on top so that at either end the ribbon overlaps in equal lengths. Attach the ribbon with some sticky back tape at each end close to the very end of the card.
Next attach the beer mats. They need to be placed one at each end at the very end of the card with the gap in the middle.
Attach your patterned paper on top of this, good side facing out. You should have created a beer mat snadwich at this point (!).
Gently fold the beer mats so the two outer ends touch one another and tie the ribbon to keep the folder closed.
Decorate the outside of the folder with the same type of paper round the spine and embellish to your hearts content.
Inside create two pull out flaps, one either side of the folder.
To create a flap, cut a strip of card smaller in depth than the beer mats. Fold this card in a concetina fold. Secure by attaching to the inside of the folder with more ribbon attached underneath which again will tie the page shut. Repeat on the other side.
Hope this makes sense! Enjoy!
